Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool goes directly to the outside company that operates it. The partner processes the request and returns results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We keep a direct message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Data We Gather Automatically
Routine technical details may reach the server when a page loads:
- Page-view timestamps
- Pages opened and approximate visit length
- Device and operating-system details
- Browser type and version
- A referring website, when available
- The IP address assigned to the device
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files kept on a device. They and our analytics services help measure aggregate traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. A browser can block cookies, though some functions may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating the site and maintaining load speed
- Routing requests to the chosen search partner
- Measuring which pages visitors use
- Diagnosing and correcting technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may match visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Our reference material identifies how Polk County records may be requested from the sheriff, local courts, the Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Identification Division, and the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or dossiers about third parties.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention practices, and sharing rules govern anything entered there. We do not control those policies, so review the partner's terms before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Polk County Sheriff, Nebraska courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search tools. The destination's privacy policy controls after a visitor leaves our site. Read it before providing personal details.
Some advertising providers may track activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs on their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be received by:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that process submitted queries
- Advertising networks that serve ads
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
We use reasonable security practices for collected data. No internet system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Identified information from a minor will be deleted.
Your Data Rights
Applicable law may provide rights over personal data. Nebraska Public Records Statutes, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, govern access to state and local government records, while §29-3523 limits dissemination of specified criminal-history information. Those laws govern public bodies and official records; they do not make this private site a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal information we hold
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion where applicable law allows it
- Object to certain processing when a legal right applies
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy when our services or practices change. An updated version will be posted here with a new effective date.
